Life with Brinley

Having family here and a new baby have kept us busy the last couple of weeks. My mom flew in from Washington to help us the first week Brinley was here. It was sooo nice to have her. My delivery went very fast and well. We went to the hospital at 1:15am and I had Brinley at 6:48am. We could have had her an hour earlier, but I had to be on a penicillin drip for at least 4 hours before I delivered her. They didn't start my drip until they knew I was in labor (about an hour after we arrived at the hospital). I also had her out in 6 and a half pushes. Shad was my labor and delivery coach. He rocked at it. I also caved and ended up getting an epidural. I have never had pain like that in my life! My contractions were also coming so fast I didn't really have a break in between. After she was born I hemorrhaged pretty bad so I was really weak for a few days. We only stayed in the hospital one night. Shad couldn't sleep there and I was starting to go crazy so we came home early. I am really glad we did. We were able to get more rest than at the hospital. Shad's mom and brother (Lafe) came down the last few days. We enjoyed spending time with them and I know they loved spending time with Brinley. We had to check Shad's mom's suitcases before she left to make sure Brinley wasn't in there :) We are grateful they could come and spend the time that they did with us. It was fun having them here and it was really hard to let them go home.

We had our first trip out with Brinley on Monday. We took her to Idaho (Preston) and back. She did awesome. She slept the whole way there and back. We couldn't have been blessed with a better baby. She has been sleeping 4 hours at a time at night and will only cry if she is hungry or in pain.

Shad and I celebrated our one year anniversary on the 17th by taking a motorcycle ride and spending a little time together while my mom watched Brinley. I didn't make it very long on the motorcycle. We went down to Mapleton to pick up a truck and the road was extremely bumpy. I about cried when we were done. All in all we had a good time.

Shad had a softball game last night. The game was going really well until Shad was up to bat. He hit the ball way out in right field and was running like a cheetah to first then to second base. When the next player was up to bat and hit the ball down center field Shad booked in to third. He made it before they could get the ball the third base player, but he over ran the base so he was tagged out. As he made it back to the dugout he was limping and in pain. When we got home he could barely walk. He tore two of his leg muscles and pinched a nerve in his back. He is walking like a 80 year old man today. I feel so bad for him. He is going to a massage therapist today so hopefully that will help!

I am so happy for you guys. It's so exciting that you are now a mother! I am kinda sad that I missed out on your wedding and even knowing you were pregnant, but at least we have contact now!
