Trees...really BIG trees

Since our backyard neighbor has one window that has a full view of our backyard we decided to get some trees to create privacy. Our yard isn't very big. We had a very limited choice of trees that would could back there. The kind of tree that we chose is five Crimson Spire Oak. They are beautiful! It took a week to get prepared and to get them in. Shad tore out sod, dug up pipe and helped dug the holes for the trees. After the holes had been dug we received a call from the landscaper saying that the holes weren't big enough! I was so nervous that the trees were going to be too big for our yard. It turns out the trees just had really big root balls. It took Shad and four others all day to get the trees in and buried. It took another day for Shad and two other helpers to re-landscape the backyard. We haven't been able to put our finger on it, but after the additions the yard feels more complete!

2 year Anniversary and House Pics

Monday was Shad and I's 2 year wedding anniversary. It is amazing to look back and see all that has happened in 2 years. I have to say it has been the best two years of my life. Monday was a really low key day. We had a lot of packing still to do and Shad had to go to a car auction. We decided to go to lunch (since we only had about an hour to spend together) to celebrate. The place we chose was Mimi's Cafe. We ate there once before for dinner and liked it so I thought it would be a good choice. When we sat down at our table we were surrounded by women, so needless to say it was very loud. It took about 20 minutes to order. Our order had been in for about 15-20 minutes before the manager came out and told Shad that they didn't have what he order. We were a little frustrated, but he chose a cheeseburger so we could eat and leave. They brought out our food and it wasn't very good so I started to pick through my sandwich and guess what is in it....a chunk of metal. The manager felt really bad so they didn't charge us and gave us free desert. I have to say it is pretty memorable. I just want to say I am so grateful to have married Shad. He was worth the wait and I love being married to him and look forward to forever with him!!

We are finally all moved out of our apartment and into our new house. We still have a lot of work to do, but I am so glad that we are in our new place. Here are some pictures!!! Brinley slept through the night last night, yeah!!! She had her 1 year check up and the doctor told me that she probably has night tares and told me how to get them to stop. We put her to bed and then wake her up 30 minutes later and then put her back to bed. Last night it worked so we will see what tonight brings!!!

Catching Up

Since we got back from Hawaii life has been crazy!!! It has already been a month since we left. There are days that I miss it like crazy. On the 24th of July we went riding (dirt bikes and four wheelers) with our adopted family in Heber and Midway. It was a lot of fun and we can never go riding without something going wrong. We have horrible luck. I had Brinley on the four wheeler and she ended up falling asleep right before we got to an extremely rocky part of the trail. I ended up having to ride in a side by side the rest of the time. Shad and Dave decided they would venture up a hill. Shad ended up hitting a rock and losing all the oil in his oil pan. He had to leave the bike and went an got it a few days later. He now has it "as good as new". Since the 24th we have been camping with Shad's side of the family in Downey, ID. We had a really great time. Just before we left I found out that my work wanted me to start working back in the Salt Lake office instead of at home so I gave my two weeks notice. I will officially be a stay at home momma. Please send me ideas of how to keep Brinley entertained :)

I will also be posting more about our latest project....it is an exciting one. We bought a house!!!!!! Finally! We are going to be in Provo longer that what we would like, but it works. The house was a foreclosure and we know we got a great deal. It was worth the wait. We didn't even use an agent...which I am most grateful for. I have not had that best experiences with listing agents we have tried to deal with on multiple homes. I wish that area of real estate was more regulated. Anyway, enough with the venting. We will post pics this week!

Out with the Old in with the NEW!

We finally were able to move back into our place yesterday...wooohooo!! Here is a picture of the new floor. We are so very happy to be back in our little dungeon (for now!). Also, we are planning to build a home and are just in the process of deciding on a lot. If any of you know of a great deal on a lot in Utah County let us know!

Brinley's Quilt

My mother and sister in laws had a shower for me back in June and at the shower everyone made quilt blocks to put a quilt together for Brinley. I just got the quilt tonight and I had to post pictures of how cute it is! Thank you to Kathy for putting it together and for everyone else who made a block for it!! I know Brinley will love it.

Just a side note we have a little garden outside our window seal that we are pretty proud of. Here is a picture of the garden and Shad out watering. The shirt he is wearing was his Grandpa's old shirt which I have to say he looks soooo good in! His grandpa passed away a few years ago so it has some special meaning.
