Last weekend I had a lot of abdominal pain it was pretty mild for a week or so and then it because so severe that I couldn't do anything. I went to two baptisms on Saturday morning and then I came home and crashed. The pain was so bad that I called the hospital and one of the midwives I see. They both told me to go into the ER since I was only 19 weeks and get checked out because it could be something serious. After being told this I was very scared and nervous. A wonderful neighbor of ours came and took Brinley while Shad and I went to the hospital. I had never been to Mt. Timpanogas Hospital and I wasn't sure what to expect. When we arrived they got us right back into a bed and starting running tests. They did a urine test, blood test and a ultrasound of me and the baby. We were wanting to wait until Shad's b-day to find out what we are having, but in the ultrasound little Shad junior wasn't shy at all letting us know he is a BOY! As far as they could tell the baby is healthy (what a huge relief) and all my organs were functioning like they should. The doctor thought I had appendicitis, but they pretty much ruled it out after seeing my appendix wasn't inflamed. They released me and told me to follow-up with one of my midwives on Tuesday or to come back in if I got worse. I started to feel a little better and went in for a follow-up visit on Tuesday. From what we can tell I have a hernia and just need to rest and take it easy to see if it will heal on its own. The midwife asked me if I had lifted anything heavy recently and it didn't dawn on me until I left that I had helped Shad move a couple mattresses that we sold right before the pain started. No more lifting anything for me!!! Not the smartest thing I have ever done!
We still have my 20 week ultrasound on Shad's b-day next week and I am looking forward to seeing our little guy again. The ultrasound tech at the hospital told us she doesn't like to tell people what they are having, but she was 99% sure (she never says 100%) that it is a boy. Because of what happened with Brinley it will be a relief next week to make sure it still is a boy :) I am most concerned about making sure he is healthy and growing like he should!
