Breckin is 1!!!

This year has been one of tremendous joy and challenges. Through it all our son has grown and overcome his reflux and lung issues that plagued him his first year of life. He is such a good baby and he brings us so much happiness. This year with all that is going on with Brin we kept things simple. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shinning and we only wore sweatshirts. Brin seemed to do better outside and so did the rest of us! We couldn't believe how warm it was. Shad's mom was here to help us and Lafe, Shad's brother came down from Salt Lake to celebrate with us. We bought Breckin a mini Jeep for his birthday and played with it and the four wheeler all afternoon. Later on we had Cafe Rio and cake. Shad's mom helped me with the cake which was a lot of fun. Breckin didn't really like getting his hands dirty (must run in the family) with the cake. Of course, we had some old fashion fun with a cow pinata (note: pinatas can be traumatizing to little ones especially when dad takes out his stress and decapitates it, next time get the string pull one) and pin the tale on the donkey. The pinata turned out to be a hit after the initial trauma. Probably because there was candy and animal masks. Shad thought that I was the donkey on his turn of pin the tale on the donkey. How could he get that confused, haha? Shad, his mom, Lafe and Brin were all almost spot on with the donkey. I was way off. All in all it was a much needed day! Here are some of the things about our handsome little guy:

-Sleeps through the night...wahooo!
-He has two top teeth (adorable little teeth with a small gap-love it!) and more on the way!
-Crawling up the stairs is one of his favorite things to do especially when mom or dad accidentally leave the gate down and he tries to sneak up them.
-He loves, love, loves his sister!
-He is a big boy now and likes to be treated as such. Drinks out of a sippy or straw. Eats chewable food, no more nasty puree food for me and tries to eat with a baby spoon. He especially likes to feed himself.
-Diaper changes are quite a challenge. It is more like a wrestling match. He has learned that when I hand him a toy by the diaper changer that he is going to get a diaper change. Now he bats whatever I have out of my hand and tries to break free to prevent having to get his bum changed...little smarty.
-Toys, toys, toys he loves his toys. Trucks are fun, but he loves babies, balls, blocks, and the animal pop-up toy we have. He also loves the ipad.
-He is very good at knowing his limits. He is a little timid still with walking, but his is oh so close. I tell Shad when this kid gets him balance he is going to run, aah!
-When we tell him no he gets a mischievous grin on his face and bolts with a laugh to what we told him not to do or he thinks that screaming and throwing a fit gets him what he wants. He is very mellow until there is something he wants and he won't give up or in.
-I love his cuddles and sloppy kisses. My favorite thing is when he puts his head down on my chest and just lays there. It just melts me!!!!
-He loves anything with a motor and you can drive and steer. The four wheeler is his new favorite ride.
